The one thing that sticks out for me writing this one is the day I had to go next door to chop ice from my elderly neighbor's sidewalk. I came back home and could barely hold a pencil. I worked on the scene where the house blows up in Switzerland that day and my hand was shaking all over the place. Anything else I may have remembered about the time I wrote this book has been recently knocked out of my head by another book I just read, Michael Crichton's State of Fear. In Air Raid, Remo and Chiun race around the world stopping environmentally-themed acts of eco-terrorism which are being orchestrated by a twitchy, nerdy environmentalist. In State of Fear, Crichton's heroes race around the world stopping environmentally-themed acts of eco-terrorism which are being orchestrated by a twitchy, nerdy environmentalist. In Air Raid, Remo and Chiun end up in a jungle with cannibals and a Lefty tree-hugging do-gooder who is suspiciously similar to Sting. In State of Fear, Crichton's heroes end up in a jungle with cannibals and a Lefty tree-hugging do-gooder who is suspiciously similar to Martin Sheen. At the end of Air Raid, my celebrity airhead tree-hugger gets eaten by cannibals. In State of Fear, Crichton's celebrity airhead tree-hugger gets eaten by cannibals. Air Raid came out in January of 2002. State of Fear came out three years later, in December 2004. I love coincidences, don't you?
